Aviation jobs: 80% S’poreans – what about other sectors?

Aviation jobs boom

I refer to the article “Jobs growth taking off amid aviation boom” (Straits Times, Feb 19).

80% are Singaporean workers

It states that “Employment in the sector has been growing steadily, from 9,200 in 1995 to 16,000 in 2005 and 20,000 now, of whom 80 per cent are Singaporeans”.

If can breakdown for aviation sector – what about other sectors?

Since we are able to disclose the percentage of jobs held by Singaporeans in the aviation sector – why can’t we disclose the percentage for the other sectors?

More foreigners than S’poreans in IT sector?

For example, it has been estimated that more than half of the workers in the Information Technology (IT) sector are not Singaporeans (foreigners and permanent residents (PRs).

Reciprocate trust with more help?

Since the people have given their trust and mandate – shouldn’t we reciprocate by being more transparent?
