Why are Singaporeans the 8th most ignorant in the world?
I refer to the article “These are the world’s most ignorant countries” (The Independent, Dec 17, 2016).
S’poreans are the 8th most ignorant people in the world
It says that Singaporeans are the 8th most ignorant people in the world, according to the 2016 Index of Ignorance.
It states that “Participants were asked a number of questions about their society, including their country’s population, healthcare spending, home ownership and the proportion of Muslims living in their country. The findings were then collated to create the index.”
S’poreans are the 6th most ignorant for total household wealth?
For example, for the question “What percentage of total household wealth do you think the least wealthy 70% own?”
Singaporeans were the sixth most ignorant, as they had a % point difference of +18 – Avg. guess (37) versus the Actual (19).
In other words, Singaporeans tend to overestimate the wealth of the 70% least wealthy, in Singapore.
S’poreans are the 10th most ignorant for health expenditure?
For the question – “What percentage of total annual Gross Domestic Product do you think is spent on health expenditure each year?” – Singaporeans were the tenth most ignorant, as they had a % point difference of +16 – Avg. guess (21) versus the Actual (5).
What do you think of the above?
