Minimum wage for civil servants?

I refer to the mid-year increase in pay for civil servants.

$60 increase

I would like to applaud the $60 per month additional increment for
Division IV officers, which is $10 more than the $50 recommended by the
National Wages Council (NWC).

Salary scale maximum still low?

However, even after the increment, their salary scale has only gone up
from $864 – $1,064 to $924 – $1,124, and the typical gross monthly wage
from $924 to $1,600.

Take-home pay?

After the employee’s CPF contribution of up to 20 per cent for
non-pensionable government employees, their take-home pay will only be
from around $763 to $1,280.

Increase salary scale

I would like to suggest that the starting pay and maximum in the salary
scale be increased.

Can you imagine working for decades only to reach a maximum take-home
pay of about $1,280!

As a first world country with arguably one of the most efficient and
non-corrupt civil service in the world, we ought to pay our low-wage
civil servants more.

Superscale to Division IV ratio highest in the world?

By the way, I believe the ratio of the pay of our highest paid
superscale civil servants to Division IV officers is the highest in the
world.
