How many more years must it take to protect S’porean workers from job discrimination?

9 years ago in 2013 – I wrote about the need for anti-discrimination labour laws, to protect S’porean workers, when the Government said that “(the) Government does not rule out anti-discrimination labour laws”
Now, 9 years later in 2022 – we are still just talking about having a committee which is expected to complete its work at the end of this year, on legislation about job discrimination!
“Why is it that after so many years of the widespread problems of discrimination against Singaporeans (particularly more educated and older ones) – all that we can say now is that the “Government does not rule out anti-discrimination labour laws” – How many more years must Singaporeans wait for the Government to really do something?” (Jun 4,2013)
“In his opening remarks at the panel discussion, Dr Koh said the results of the survey would inform the ongoing work of the Tripartite Committee on Workplace Fairness.
He added that the committee, which is looking into enshrining the Tripartite Guidelines on Fair Employment Practices into law, aims to complete its work by the end of this year.” (ST, Mar 23, 2022)
