“Singapore’s lifting of foreign manpower quota for some firms is no free lunch” (ST, Dec 18)
Comment:
How can enabling companies to temporarily hire S Pass and Work Permit holders above their existing Dependency Ratio Ceiling (DRC) and S Pass sub-DRC, be “foreign talent” – skills for which there are not enough S’poreans to work?
There is no minimum qualifying salary for work permit, and the minimum for the S-Pass is $3,000!
Are you telling S’poreans that a foreign worker on a work permit, with no minimum salary is “foreign talent”?
