What to invest in 2015?

  1. The editors had asked me to give my predictions as to what to invest in 2015, as we are coming to the end of the year.

    Nobody knows?

I normally always say “nobody knows”, but what goes down a lot for a very long time, may have a higher chance of coming up.

    Some guesses?

So, you may like to consider investing in

… Global real estate which is still about 10 per cent below the last high in 2008 – 6 years already!  (Source: RWO – SPDR DOW JONES GLOBAL REAL ESTATE ETF)

(Note: You can see from the chart that the last high was about $50 in 2008, compared to about $46 now)

… Global commodity equities which are still about 20 per cent below the last high in 2011 – 3 years already! (Source: GLOBAL COMMODITY EQUITY ETF – CRBQ)

(Note: You can see from the chart that the last high was about $53 in 2011, compared to about $40 now)

… Gold which is still about 35 per cent below its last high in 2012 – 2 years already! (Source: GLD – Gold ETF)

    http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=GLD+Interactive#

(Note: You can see from the chart that the last high was about $176 in 2012, compared to about $113 now)

… Singapore REITs (Real Estate Investment Trusts) which are my “evergreen” favourite.  With the recent weakness in the Singapore stock market – REITs have yields of around 5 to 9 per cent.  You may like to ride out any volatility by collecting the dividends, and take profits by selling the Reit as and when appropriate. (Note: You can see from the table that yields now range from about 5 to 9 per cent)
With the end of the Fed’s quantitative easing (QE) and expectations of impending interest rate rise – you may have noticed that my guesses have omitted bonds and equities.
This may be one of my shortest articles, as I am just guessing.
