11,400 jobs to locals against 61,005 new PRs & 42,917 new citizens?

  1. The number of new PRs granted increased from 29,955 in 2015 to 31,050 in 2016. New PRs granted increased 3.7%?This is an increase of 3.7 per cent.The number of new citizens granted increased from 20,815 in 2015 to 22,102 in 2016.

    New citizens granted increased 6.2%?

    This is an increase of 6.2 per cent.

    Since there were 20,815 new citizens granted, and 29,955 new Permanent Residents (PRs) granted in 2015, compared to the 20,348 new citizens and 29,854 new PRs in 2014 – this was an increase of 2.3 and 0.3 per cent, respectively, in the previous year.

    So, the rate of increase has gone up from 0.3 to 3.7 per cent for new PRs granted, and 2.3 to a whopping 6.2 per cent for new citizens granted.

    Why are we continuing to increase the number of new PRs and citizens granted at an increasing pace, during one of our worse economic downturns?

    2015-16: Employment growth – 11,400 locals, 37,300 foreigners?

    In the two years from January 2015 to December 2016 – employment growth was 11,400 for locals and 37,300 for foreigners.

    So, how many of the 11,400 jobs growth to locals went to Singaporeans, against the 61,005 new PRs granted, and 42,917 new citizens granted in the same two-year period?
