Yet another “create many jobs” rhetoric?

singapore-employees

Almost every week – “jobs creation” propaganda?

I refer to the article “Masterplan for ‘digital district’ in Punggol North launched; area to generate up to 28,000 tech jobs” (Straits Times, Jan 21).

It states that “When its first buildings are ready in five years, Punggol North could become something of a mini Silicon Valley in Singapore – a centre of digital and cybersecurity industries that generates up to 28,000 digital economy jobs.”

How many of the 28,000 jobs will go to Singaporeans, PRs and foreigners?

What’s the point of the consistent rhetoric that lots of jobs are being created in “sector after sector” – when it is estimated that hardly any of the jobs change this year went to Singaporeans?
