What percentage of the workforce are not “Singaporean”?

Total employment continues to fall

I refer to the article “Unemployment and layoffs down in Q2 2017; total employment continues to fall: MOM” (Straits Times, Jul 28).

47% non-Singaporean?

According to the worforce summary table released by the Ministry of Manpower on 28 July – the estimated percentage of non-Singaporeans (foreigners and permanent residents (PRs)) is about 47 per cent, assuming that about 14 per cent of the locals are PRs, since there is no breakdown into Singaporeans and PRs.

Half not “Singaporean”?

If we include new citizens – does it mean that about half the workforce may not be true-blue Singaporeans?
